Hurricanes And Aerial Views

There is something wonderful about getting free Internet maps when I am about to go on a trip. Call me cheap if you want to, but I don't like to buy maps for each state that I want to go to. I love it that I can go online to get what I need. There are many sites, and they all work the same way for the most part. You enter your starting point and your destination, and they give you driving directions and a map you can use for reference. All you have to do is print them out and you can go on your way.

I get most of my Internet maps from Rand McNally. I have found that their site seems to be the most accurate, but even they are not perfect. The last time I used one of their Internet maps I was going to a Wiggles' concert with my daughter. The map was accurate until the last two turns. It gave me a street name that did not exist, and I always ended up back on the freeway and headed into Canada. Luckily I saw what was about to happen and I turned off on the last turn off before the highway.

When I looked at my Internet maps, I saw that I was indeed on the right road, but the name was wrong. Either the name of the street had changed, or they never had it right in the first place. I'm glad I was on the look out for the turn or I would have been trying to turn around on a freeway going over Lake Erie. Though that was a close call, it really wasn't a huge deal. The Internet maps I have used from other sites have been much worse.

If you need Internet maps, you may want to check out a few different sites and perhaps even print out a few different directions and see what you like the best. You may want to take a few different Internet maps with you in case you do get lost. What is wrong on one map might be right on another, and you may be able to get back on the right path faster than you would if you had to stop for directions. Make sure the maps print out clearly, and if you have one for a downtown area, blow them up as much as you can without losing clarity so you aren't straining your eyes while trying to keep them on the road.
